The 2005 Unified Lunar Control Network
--------------------------------------

Data for the 2005 Unified Lunar Control Network was released to the public by Brent A. Archinal, Mark R. Rosiek, Randolph L. Kirk, and Bonnie L. Redding of the United States Geological Survey Astrogeology Research Branch on December 2006 at:

http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2006/1367/

This folder contains a transcription of that network into an LTVT-readable dot file. We have been unable to contact the authors for a clarification of the significance of the data and their connection to features that may be observable with a ground-based telescope.

For further details, please open the main file with a text processor such as WordPad (it is too large for most spreadsheets) and read the comments in the header.

There are 272931 entries in the file, for each of which the longitude, latitude and radial distance from the Moon's center are given. The entries that come from pre-Clementine data (essentially the 1994 ULCN) have been flagged in the first column and can be displayed in LTVT by setting the Feature Size Threshold in the main window to -1.

According to the above website this is the most complete and accurate network of control points on the Moon currently in existence. However, it appears that their work has not yet been peer-reviewed.
